  4. Hello. First, I have to thank you for doing this. We are based in Los Angeles where word of this situation has not — yet— been widely impacting the theatre community and, subsequently, the local press. We hope that our work in February will change that. I have been in contact with Natalya and we have been arranging a performed reading of BEING HAROLD PINTER for February 25th at Los Angeles Theatre Center, 514 S. Spring Street. As of now James Cromwell will be reading and the rest of the cast is to be announced. Information can be found on our site under ‘upcoming project.’ We also hope to create a collective statement by representatives of the local theatre community that will also educate their audiences as well as reach out to a few of the university theatre departments and their students. Amnesty International will likely be joining us for the event and guiding us on the educational materials. Any information you feel we need or insights for how best to get the word out, please let us know. We are looking at this event as a celebration of the work of Belarus Free Theatre, the power of the arts and of international collaborative work. To see a positive future where theatre is celebrated in Belarus and at home as the relevant and vital art form that it is.

Any links you think we should share on our site as we continue to update the information and send through our newsletter I would be grateful for.

Again, thank you for all you are doing.
    Bari Hochwald
    Artistic Director

  5. Bari,

Thanks for your comments and for putting on a reading in LA. We encourage everyone to make this project their own so shape it the way you feel is best for your community. My advice is to provide a weblink to this site on your page announcing the reading and publish the web address in all event related materials. The purpose of this site is to consolidate all efforts regarding the readings nationwide and provide a forum for discussion & sharing views & results of the work. You will see on the home page that we put up as much up to date info as possible to enable everyone to access relevant information on BFT & the situation in Belarus. Also, please be sure to join the facebook page Being Belarus Free Theater (link on the home page) for discussion on the project as this is the most up to date commentary on everyone’s work and activities regarding BFT. Thank you for your work.
